Back to Work and Some Cool Stuff

Taking a slight break from blogging was… educational.  I realized that I actually want to write.  I’d be excited about something and I’d want to share.  I came this close to blogging a few times. Wanna know what stopped me?  Pictures.  The pictures are always my downfall.  I hate posting without at least one.  But it’s so much work! Thinking of how to style the picture, taking the time to do it (especially when dealing with a child who doesn’t want her hair done the way you envisioned it), trying to catch the good light (never happens because life), trying to catch all the angles and details…  And the editing…  And then!  Then you realize that you didn’t quite manage to capture your vision. So I didn’t blog because I didn’t feel like taking a picture.

And I had all these grand plans for how I was going to revamp the blog.  Prettify it.  Update the links.  And plans to document some projects.  Nope.  Didn’t happen.  What did I do?  I decluttered and reorganized the playroom and sewing/knitting/computer room.  I was so proud of my work that I wanted to show it off but that would mean pictures and well… And I went to Mood! I wanted to show you my very reasonable haul but nope. (Seriously, it was quite the trip.  Like, the guy who helped me, Joe, couldn’t place my accent.  So I said I was from Canada and that satisfied him.  He laughed when I asked him to get a fabric bolt out for me.  I suppose he heard “oot” rather than “out”.  But I said “out”.  Maybe I should say “aaaaoooooout” or something…)

But I’m back!  Project Run & Play is about to start and I’ve been working on an outfit for the sew along. Theme: 80s cartoons!  So. Fun.  Kids Clothes Week is coming up soon too but for now, something really really cool.  You’ve seen me having some fun with Flip This Pattern, right?  Well, there’s something special happening with that in September.  It’s up and coming indie designer showcase month (designers with no more than 5 children’s patterns).  Lookee.

Cute patterns, right?  But look closely.  See the 11th?  That fun layering shirt?  Look at the names under it.  I’m right there!  I am so very excited to be participating! Not enough exclamation points in the world excited! So stay tuned and don’t forget to enter the Rafflecopter giveaway.  It’s a great bundle!

Creative mommy at home to two wonderful little girls, trying to juggle family, sewing, exercise, family, knitting, photography, and did I mention family?

  1. There are so many beautiful blogs out there that it is very intimidating when it comes to the photos! I feel the same way, like I should have these gorgeous pictures to show off my things. But honestly? I have come to terms with the fact that I sew. That does not make me a photographer! Usually the only editing I do is cropping lol. That is just too much of a not fun time waster to try to make all the pics look just right. I know I have much better things to do lol! And the kids never have the faces I want or the poses. But that is LIFE! We are just documenting it. Sometimes life is just not that pretty! Haha
And hey congratulations on being part of the flip tour!! That is so exciting! Looking forward to what you make 🙂

    • Thank you!

I actually enjoy photography! But what I like is when I photograph what interests me. Like when we travel or even just trying to see things in a different way. Taking pictures to show what I’ve made is a lot less fun. I can still get some good ones. I’ve taken to paying my oldest (modeling is a job after all) and she’s much more cooperative when she’s paid. I would love to do a watermark on my pictures too but most days, I just can’t be bothered with Photoshop (or rather Gimp). So I only do the editing that I can do with my camera’s software. It actually allows me to do quite a bit! I just always have this nagging feeling that I should be using Photoshop… But you’re right. I need to accept my photography as good enough and not make myself crazy with it (says the girl who’s planning another crazy photoshoot today…)
