This Halloween, I stayed home to answer the door for the 10 trick or treaters who came. Quiet dead end street…
I did want some pictures though so I hurried the girls out as early as possible to get the last of the (cloudy) light. I had to bump my ISO up to 3200 and I should have gone all the way to 6400 but I was afraid the images would be grainy. Let’s just pretend the soft focus is on purpose, okay? You know, creating a dreamlike quality for two little girls dressed up as princesses…
Because oh yes, they dressed up as princesses. Or rather a princess and a queen. Yes, my kids are sooooo original. Queen Elsa and Princess Anna...
I confess I bought the costumes. I would rather spend my sewing time and money on clothes the girls will wear more often but if I had unlimited time and money? I would be so there! The creative challenge is awesome. Instead, I challenged myself to find something to keep these children warm that would work with the costumes. And I got lucky. I’d already made a cape (from Oliver + S) that would be perfect for Elsa. Deep purple wool with a snowflake printed cotton lining and faux silver fox fur trim. And a metallic clasp.
For Anna (notice that souricette 2 chose the coronation dress rather than the travel dress that already comes with a pink-red cape), I needed a green cape. I couldn’t find green wool so I used some green cotton twill I had. I was not messing with the faux fur again so I got some white minky for the lining. And another metallic clasp.
Super cute!!!
