I went out looking for a pretty bouquet of flowers for myself yesterday, mainly for pictures. I couldn’t find what I wanted, something local, not roses or artificially colored whatevers. And not tulips. I love tulips but I did tulips last week. Couldn’t find that anywhere, not even the farmers’ market. I ended up with three flowers that look like peonies to me but, like I may have mentioned before, I’m no botanist. I loved how full and fluffy they looked. All white apart from a few petals fringed with bright pink at the center.
I had no idea how they would photograph, especially with the lighting I had to deal with it (it was very overcast and rather dark indoors). I tried a couple lenses and 100mm gave me the images I wanted. Soft and delicate, like a cloud.
I wish I could have reduced my ISO. It’s at 1600 for most pictures because I wasn’t in a very stable situation. These kinds of close ups require a slightly smaller aperture or the depth of field is about 1mm. And smaller aperture (higher number) means slower shutter speed. It’s either get stable which I couldn’t do or bump the ISO. So the pictures have a little bit of that high ISO noise.
You can probably tell I’m still in a blurry mood. I think it relaxes me after trying so hard to get sharp pictures of the girls.
