My first mousling, Emmanuelle, started school today. I’ve been excited and nervous. Excited because I’ve always loved school. Nervous because I had no clue what I was doing. I was supposed to get a letter telling me which class we were in and what time we were expected to show. Never got it. Will probably get it today.
Emmanuelle has refused to have conversations about school for the past few days. This morning, she said she wouldn’t cry and that she would talk, but just a little. Hmmm, I think someone was having some anxiety and not telling us… Everything worked out well. Her best friend from camp this Summer is in her class. And the friend’s face lit up when she saw us. Emmanuelle will have a good year…
And that is her special first day of school outfit, made by me. The pattern is the Music Class Blouse and Skirt from Oliver + S. I adore these patterns! They’re work but they have so many special details. The skirt has these cute pleated inserts and pockets. The blouse has these little pintucks, front and back, and a pleat at the top of the sleeve. The pink piping is my own addition and I love it. Actually, it was reading the pattern instructions that gave me the idea. At one point, they just say to have trim or piping ready if you’re using them. I was wondering where I would be adding piping and thought of the collar and yoke. Once the idea of piping entered my mind, I knew I wouldn’t be satisfied with anything less… The top button is a pink heart, just because. Emmanuelle loves the skirt because it’s pink with flowers.
I love reading your comments! I will try to respond to every single one.
