I seem to have gotten myself in a sewing mood. I have three – three! – projects in the works. I’m all excited to be on a roll like this! And I’m going to use a bunch of exclamation point to convey that!!!!
Anyway…
I always have such a hard time starting a new project. Sort of a craftwoman’s version of writer’s block. It’s like that time I went to a treetop obstacle course thingie. Like this. I was cruising along until I got to the tarzan rope. You had to hang on to the rope, and jump off the platform. The rope would then swing you into a net. I knew it was safe. I wasn’t scared. But my friends might have thought I was because I was having the hardest time jumping. That step from thinking of doing something to actually doing it. I have a really hard time with it!
And I have the same issue with projects. I’ll want to make something. Participate in something. Like Flip This Pattern. Wouldn’t that be cool? I really like the August pattern… But I never manage to get started and it passes me by. Maybe it actually is fear. A fear of failure. Or of not being noticed. Or even being noticed! Hmmm, I’m being ridiculous. I know a lot of people feel the exact same way. And I should never ever allow myself to hide because of it. I thought of joining this best of Summer activity too. And wouldn’t you know it? I just finished the cutest outfit that would work perfectly!
The pattern is Oliver + S Class Picnic Blouse + Shorts. You’ve seen me rave about these patterns before, right? This one did not disappoint either. Souricette 1 chose the fabric for the top (good old quilting cotton) and I chose a gorgeous lightweight chambray for the shorts. It’s unbelievably soft. I love this kind of top for Summer for my girls and myself. In a lightweight fabric, a top like this doesn’t make you hot at all and it gives great protection from the sun. Especially important when you’re so white you’re almost blue, like souricette 1. And the shorts are just so cute. I’ve already got another one in the works for souricette 2. Souricette 1 requested that I use the exact same fabric but I’m not sure I have enough left over. I’ll try really hard. I love dressing them in matching or coordinating outfits!
PS: In case you were wondering, the two other projects are a skirt for me and another tooth fairy mouse with a tweaked pattern.
[…] Monday and Tuesday. I finished souricette 2′s class picnic blouse and short set. Just like souricette 1′s set. No pictures though because souricette 2 developed some sort of vile rash (doctor says it’s […]
