I’ve been meaning to try some of the activities from a great book I bought : The Artful Parent. (While you’re there, check out the blog. It’s great.) Somehow, I managed two this week! One of them was set up so I could cook in peace. No pictures there. The other one. Brace yourselves. Action painting with fly swatters! They only worked for 20 minutes but I think they enjoyed it. Souricette 1 had this look of complete satisfaction as she worked. It must feel so liberating in a sense, whacking that paint covered fly swatter onto the paper. No need to paint anything specific, just releasing energy… I used my telephoto zoom so that I could get close without getting too close… ISO higher than really required by the light because I wanted the camera to be speedy to catch the action. So I set ISO to 200 and speed to 1/100. The camera chose the aperture.
