Toddler Queen of Hearts – a Costume Tutorial

When my big girl decided she wanted to be Alice in Wonderland for Halloween (yay! not a princess!), I knew I wanted the baby to coordinate with her.  I need to coordinate them now, while souricette 2 doesn’t have much of an opinion.  I debated between the white rabbit, the cheshire cat, and the queen of hearts. The white rabbit seemed too predictable.  The cheshire cat may have been my preference but it was too labour intensive.  I would have had to find the perfect striped material and make the costume from scratch.  I searched the internet for something good to use but there was nothing.  And I didn’t have the time for a full costume like that.  So queen of hearts it was.

For this costume, you need a long sleeved plain black bodysuit.  American Apparel has some.  You won’t be doing anything to it so it can be used as a good basic bodysuit when not in use for the costume.  You also need black tights and black or black and white shoes.  Over that, you add a tutu.  And then, a tabard with hearts.  Finish it off with a crown and scepter.

Creative mommy at home to two wonderful little girls, trying to juggle family, sewing, exercise, family, knitting, photography, and did I mention family?
