Fast Sewing

My knitting machine is still in tantrum mode.  Between the machine and the kids, I’m not sure who is exercising my patience the most right now…

One thing I remember from when I was machine knitting more regularly is that the machine eats T-shirts.  Something about the way I place myself to use it, maybe?  My T-shirts would develop holes near the bottom hem after a day at the knitting machine.  I’d wear crappy T-shirts everyday because of it.  But I don’t like wearing crappy T-shirts.  I like pretty clothes.  Pretty clothes make me feel put together when I’m picking the girls up from school.  No need for fanciness but a T-shirt without holes is really the bare minimum.  And no, I do not wish to change in and out of clothes all day long.

The solution is pretty obvious even though it took me a loooong time to figure it out.  An apron!  So I sewed one up really fast and got Mr. Mouse to take pictures.

I think he had a case of the camera shakes…

The fabric is some purple batik that I had in my stash and the pattern is Heather Bailey Daily Spice.

It was my third time making it.  The first time was for a friend even thought I’d originally bought the pattern for me.  The second time was for the kitchen.  Seriously, what’s with all those aprons with no bib?  Who splatters tomato sauce on their pants but not their shirt?  Anyway…  This apron is perfect.  Covers the whole T-shirt and almost down to my knees.  There will be no more holes!  And it’s easy to put on and take off so I can actually wear pretty clothes and not feel like a slob.  Win! Ha, I needed that after what the knitting machine has been putting me through…

Creative mommy at home to two wonderful little girls, trying to juggle family, sewing, exercise, family, knitting, photography, and did I mention family?
