Cables It Is Then

I started this post before lunch on Thursday.  Souricette 2 was home sick.  I‘m under the weather too.  Exactly when I have tons of work to do for my design for the last week of PRP.  My signature style.  I was frustrated because all I had after two days were two swatches.  One for an idea that I scrapped for now and one that was supposed to be perfect.  After all it had worked in another yarn and I thought it would look the same with this yarn.  Not so much.

In person, the texture is hardly visible. The diamonds get swallowed up by the ribs.

I was tired and discouraged.  I told myself I should nap.  But my thoughts were racing and congestion was messing with my breathing.  So I got up and tried another technique.  Cables.  I used them for the icicle skirt and I wanted to use another technique for this project.  I tried them anyway.  And there.

The diamond is NOT swallowed up!

It worked.   Oh sure, it needs work.  It’s not exactly the right shape but it’s the right technique.  The bonus is that I know exactly what to do for the second texture I want on the sweater.  Still lots of swatching to do but it clicked.  It’ll be cables again.  So be it.  If I use them so often, they must be part of my signature style anyway, right?

Creative mommy at home to two wonderful little girls, trying to juggle family, sewing, exercise, family, knitting, photography, and did I mention family?
