Winter Break

I’m not sewing.  I had that Project Run&Play blitz and I thought it would calm down afterwards but nope.  My Project Sewn top took longer than planned.  That put me behind on the Albion sew-along and I had to play catch up.  And there were snow days.  And now, Winter break.  I don’t even remember what alone time feels like!  And I needed to stop for a second.  I finished up my Albion on Monday and decided that I would not sew for the rest of the week.  I haven’t.  But I did knit.  Not on my machine, just regular sitting on the couch knitting.

Knitting socks on the couch while souricette 1 tries new techniques in my hair.  And souricette 2 tries to copy her.  (It hurts pretty often.)

Knitting on my mystery knit-along shawl while watching show and movies with Mr. Mouse.

It’s calming.  I love how social this knitting can be.  The sewing machine and knitting machine require me to be in another room, looking at what I’m doing all the time.  This knitting I can do anywhere.  I take it to the kitchen to chat with Mr. Mouse while he makes dinner.  I take it to the living room to knit while the souricettes put on a show.  I take it along on long car rides.  It’s soothing and it’s all I want to do right now.  Maybe it’s just what I need.

Creative mommy at home to two wonderful little girls, trying to juggle family, sewing, exercise, family, knitting, photography, and did I mention family?
