Update: When you buy your Charlie dress pattern, don’t forget to use code CHARLIEFRIEND to get 2$ off (valid until July 31st).
Today’s the day the Charlie dress goes live in the Mingo and Grace shop. I thought this would be a good day to share the second version I made.
This version was made with the tweaked pattern, the one you’ll be getting when you purchase Charlie.
I originally wanted to use some leftover voile with a border print. There was plenty to fit all the pattern pieces but not in a way that would allow me to have fun with that border print. So I went back to my stash and chose some leftover coral red chambray.
I followed the pattern instructions to the letter but at the very end, I decided the chambray needed a little something extra. I rummaged through my trims.
And there. A touch of flowered trim that I bought two years ago in Brussels. Just perfect.
I think I sewed it on wrong side facing out. Don’t look too closely…
Now, since I shared my first version while I was away, I couldn’t link up to any of the other pattern testers. I had to prepare and schedule my post earlier and the others didn’t all have their posts ready yet. So here they are.
Kimmie Sew Crazy made two of them. I especially like the polka dotted one.
Our Chez Nous used a cool zigzag-y fabric.
La Folie (Ines Melo) added some gorgeous modern embroidery.
Sew Shelly Sew made 3! I love the exposed zipper detail on the first one she shows.
My Sweet Sunshine also made 3. The one she made in flower and butterfly fabric is breathtaking.
Dotta used a great print with a golden fabric for the skirt. She added a cute little triangle inset at the neckline.
Needle and Ted made a lovely grey one.
La Casa Cactus made two dresses too. Pretty flowers!
Oh my gosh how adorable are these pics! She looks like Shirley Temple in the first one. Love the dress and trim : )

Thank you! She’s a complete ham. She was singing “Let It Go” which is how I got the shot with the raised hand!
