Baby Clothes

You’ve already seen the baby blanket I knit and the pants souricette 1 made.  So as promised, here’s the rest of the baby shower gifts for my sister’s coming-soon-baby-boy.

First up, a little jacket to go with the pants from souricette 1.

It’s also from Handmade Beginnings.  I used the same fabrics as for the pants : lobster embroidered seersucker, red cotton, and shibori dyed muslin.  Since the pants are sized 3-6 months, so is the jacket.

I also wanted to make something out of knits.

I went with the Oliver + S Nature Walk Yoga Pants (size 6-12 months) in navy blue cotton interlock.  I completed the outfit with the Oliver + S Sailboat Top (size 6-12 months).  I used organic cotton interlock from Birch here.

My topstitcthing wasn’t looking so great so I embroidered over it.  Just a simple running stitch.  For the bottom, I didn’t want to topstitch so I stitched in the ditch at the side seams instead.  That tacked the hem facing in place.

I really wanted to make one more outfit so I went with the Oliver + S After-school Shirt and Pants (size 12-18 months).  I used some dark red/burgundy-ish cotton and some awesome Kaffe Fassett stripes from my stash.

The stripes are woven in, not printed.  I love a woven in pattern. I didn’t try to match up the stripes.  For one, because it isn’t a symmetrical stripe sequence and for two, because I thought the break in the stripes would look interesting.  I’m quite happy with the result!

And look at those pockets!

Confession time: I was feeling lazy and didn’t want to do the pockets.  Why would a 12 month old need pockets?  But they’re so cute that they’re worth it.

And now, I have one more thing to make for this little boy but first, Project Run & Play sewing must happen…

Creative mommy at home to two wonderful little girls, trying to juggle family, sewing, exercise, family, knitting, photography, and did I mention family?
