A Pretty Verona Dress

I just had to put my name in when the tester call went out for the Jennuine Design Verona dress. I was so happy to be chosen!  As always, Jenn was charming to work with.  And now I have two great dresses to show for it: a pretty one and a playful one.

Today, I’m showing off the pretty one.  It’s the second one I made so it uses the exact same pattern pieces as the ones you’ll get when you buy the pattern.  I used my beloved Cloud 9 Palos Verde voile for this one. My only modification was to add a ribbon along the bottom of the underskirt.

The Verona dress is that special breed of dress that’s easy to wear and play in but still has a bit of fanciness to it.  Dressy but functional, you know?  It’s the double layer skirt and notched collar that do it.

Sigh.  I love that classic notched collar.

The bodice is fully lined and comes with 5 sleeve options: sleeveless, 2 different cap sleeves, short sleeves, and long sleeves. I used the short sleeves and omitted the elastic.

There are no closures.  No zipper, no buttons.  There’s an elastic in the back to cinch the waist in a little more while still keeping the dress easy to put on.  Souricette 2 (aged 3) can do it all by herself!

I’m seriously in love with this dress.  Different fabric combinations can take it so many different places.  I have a few ideas roaming around this crazy brain of mine that I can’t wait to try out!

So go get your Verona dress now while it’s on sale!  And come back Friday when I show you the playful version I made.

Your fabric choice is wonderful, and I love the added ribbon on the underskirt. Your adorable little girl looks like she loves her dress.

    • Thank you! Confession time: I didn’t have thread to match the underskirt but I didn’t want an obvious stitching line at the hem. The ribbon is there to hide it! And yes, she loves both of her Verona dresses.
