Photo Monday – Brooklyn Kite Festival

I have this kite. White with blue waves and a red sun. It’s something like 30 years old. My parents bought it for me. I remember going out in the field in front of our house and trying to fly it. It was too big for a child to get it started and my parents had the hardest time getting it to fly. My sister and I were a bit bored… That kite didn’t see much action. My sister and I couldn’t do it on our own so we needed that elusive moment where there was wind but not too much and at least one of our parents was free and willing. Is anyone surprised to learn that my kite still looks brand new?

Saturday, it finally got another outing. We took it to the Brooklyn kite festival. We got there a bit late and had a hard time getting it to fly without tangling in the other kites. But it did fly… And we promised the girls we would take it to Prospect Park some other time.

Creative mommy at home to two wonderful little girls, trying to juggle family, sewing, exercise, family, knitting, photography, and did I mention family?
