And it’s 100mm macro lens! I got it as a birthday/Christmas gift from my family and M. It’s one of the less expensive models but the price is still rather gasp inducing. It’s just the way it is with photography. At least, it isn’t a marketing thing like you see in fashion. That 2000$ lens cost way more than 5$ to make. And no, mine wasn’t nearly that expensive.
Anyway, I got it last Wednesday and I spent some time Sunday playing with it. I love how close I can get to objects to really see the texture.
Sadly, the light wasn’t very good so I had to mess with the settings (bigger aperture meaning less sharpness, higher ISO meaning more noise, and underexposing a little to make the camera faster). Eventually, I think I’d like to get a ring flash to help with that. It’s a flash that goes around the lens and it’s meant specifically for macro photography. In the meantime, I’ll have to be careful to always have enough light.
I’m so excited to get to know this lens! With the little bit I’ve done, I can see I still have a lot to learn…
Ooh, how fun! Seeing the textures up close like that is so cool!
