With bonus chipmunk!
Seriously now. I took all of these pictures more than a month ago. We went to see my parents and bring the girls home (they’d spent two weeks with them). And I did what I always do when I go: walk around outside with my camera. I had my macro lens on because it had been a while and I was hoping to get good shots of my nephew. He freezes up in front of the camera and the macro lens allows me to get portraits from a bit further away. Didn’t work.
I started with flowers because it’s such a classic macro subject and there were a lot of them.
There were tons of bugs on it, ants, bees, other bee type things… I don’t usually get close to insects but these ones were completely uninterested in me, i.e. my kind of bug. It took me dozens of pictures to get a good bee one. They kept buzzing around, getting out of my focal range! Lots of blurry bees.
And one lone butterfly, taken twice.
Its wings have seen better days but it’s still beautiful, isn’t it?
Your photography is fantastic! I love all the texture and contrast in these photos.

Thank you! I’m really happy with these ones too. So often, I share pictures that aren’t quite where I would like them to be so I get especially giddy when I get truly good ones.
