The cherry blossoms are just starting to come out and the Brooklyn Botanical Garden website has this handy dandy chart showing how the trees are doing. The ones are Cherry Esplanade aren’t blooming yet but some of the ones in the Japanese garden are at peak bloom. So we went.
The cherry blossoms are always so pretty but I’m getting to a point where I’m not sure how to show them off in an interesting way. I can’t seem to get a good image from the front and I tend to go with the close ups a lot.
And while this has a dreamy quality, it doesn’t show off the whole tree. This time around, I tried to get the flower cover from behind, in a way. (As in, I was close to the trunk and looking out from the tree.)
And a glimpse of the blooms behind the stone…
But the cherry blossoms aren’t all there is to see. Turtles! One of them is resting a paw on the big one! (They were a huge hit with the kids. Actually, they were a huge hit with most visitors.)
And pussy willows. I’ve only ever seen them in the furry stage, never in bloom. Come to think of it, I’ve never seen them just growing there either…
I’m hoping to go back when the cherry trees are in bloom on Cherry Esplanade. Shouldn’t be too long…
Oh, how pretty! I love the third photo, of the cherry tree… it’s a unique perspective!
