Photo Monday – Fall Leaves

I have this knitting project that’s been waiting for weeks and weeks to be photographed. Saturday, I asked M to help me out with those pictures. We took them in Prospect Park and the colors were gorgeous. The girls asked to play before going so I passed the time with my camera.

The leaves were so pretty. I had the wide angle lens so I could get quite close and still have a whole leaf in the frame.

There was a tree with deep purple leaves right in front of one that had more yellow-orange leaves and I really wanted to show that beautiful contrast. It just got messy. The only way I found to get lots of leaves in was to have just a couple in focus at the front and a blurry jumble in the back.

Another shot I desperately tried to get was leaves in focus with the background trees a blur, right behind. I just couldn’t get it. I would see the shot I wanted but I need to move toward it. By the time I got close enough to the leaves, the background had shifted to mostly sky. I think it would have worked with a telephoto lens. The one I left at home… So this is the only one that shows the trees in the distance.

And this is what I could get when I got close to the leaves. No background trees.

I don’t know which one of those two I prefer. I like the light on the first one but I prefer the background on the second…

Creative mommy at home to two wonderful little girls, trying to juggle family, sewing, exercise, family, knitting, photography, and did I mention family?

These are so pretty! The color of that first leaf is amazing. The sky in the background may not have been the exact shot you wanted, but it’s still gorgeous- particularly the last photo, with the blurred leaves in the open spaces.
