Photo Monday – Portraits

I’m not sick of blurry pictures of colorful leaves and flowers yet but I can’t imagine that more of the same yet again can be fun for the readers. I did want to take more pictures of leaves, maybe with a different lens and there are some interesting branches at the store right now. But I wanted to switch it up a little this week before going back to wide open lens images.

So the next best thing for me? Portraits of my kids. I tried switching to the wide angle lens but the 50 mm one worked better. We went to my bedroom because it has the best light in the afternoon and it isn’t as much of a mess as the girls’ bedroom. And the decor is more neutral.

I ended up actually using my lens as wide open as it goes for these. It was set up that way and when I looked at the pictures, it worked. With my subject a little further from me, I have a greater depth of field, even with a 1.4 aperture. I tried to focus on their eyes so even though the hair might not be in focus, it works out.

The cat was lounging on the bed. I’ve changed her food and she seems happier. She still has the occasional digestive issue but she’s been so much more social and relaxed than before. Relatively speaking. She’s much more vocal as well…

She wasn’t particularly impressed with my picture taking but she didn’t run away like she used to. And she tolerates the kids now…

Creative mommy at home to two wonderful little girls, trying to juggle family, sewing, exercise, family, knitting, photography, and did I mention family?
