In the Woods

These are from two walks we took over the holidays. The first one was in Gatineau park and the second in the backyard (sort of, off the property but accessible from the backyard). I had my brand new GoPro with me and did take some pictures with it but I haven’t yet figured out all the functionalities so none of those here. Just the plain camera ones. (My kids would like some sympathy now. Their mother now not only makes them wait for the pictures she takes with the camera and the phone but also the GoPro.)

Backyard first.

Sometimes, I’ll see something and try to get a picture and the picture is nothing like what I see. Namely, the stream. I love its meandering path but the camera sees everything. My eyes can see the path and eliminate the branches everywhere whereas the camera catches every little thing. So I’ve never been able to get the stream. I think this one is the best I’ve ever gotten.

I’m thinking maybe I need to get more familiar with editing software in order to get the photographs to look like what my brain sees.

Gatineau park now. We actually went there first. We hiked through the woods to one of the cabins (mostly used by the cross country skiers), had lunch, and came back. I tried to get pictures in the woods but it was all a jumble. But before heading back down, I went to the lookout I got this picture. I have a hard time getting something I like when I try for big sweeping landscapes so I’m particularly happy with this one.

And these are blurry but I love the softness. I struggle with sharing “imperfect” pictures but sometimes, they’re the most interesting ones.

Creative mommy at home to two wonderful little girls, trying to juggle family, sewing, exercise, family, knitting, photography, and did I mention family?
