Hello!  My name is Raphaëlle.  I’m maman to two delightful (most of the time) little girls and wife to a wonderful (most of the time) man.  I left a city I dearly love (Montreal) for a NYC suburb.  And 5 years later, I can definitely say that the suburbs just aren’t for us.  We had a lovely house – I miss my kitchen! – and lived close to a great school.  But… nope.  Just not suburb people.  So we packed up and moved to an apartment in Brooklyn.  Our neighborhood reminds me so much of our old neighborhood in Montreal!  I still miss hearing French spoken around me but still, it feels so much more like home.

I love making things.  Actually, scratch that. I need to create.  I make as much as I can while taking care of E and V, my daughters.  I mainly sew and knit and try very very hard to limit myself to that but it is very very hard to resist anything having to do with fiber.  I’ve been doing a bit of spinning on a drop spindle and I’ve tried needle felting.  And I’m messing around with photography, drawing, and fabric design on Spoonflower… It’s a good thing we don’t have the space for weaving because I would totally spend our life savings on weaving equipment! And a second kitchen for dyeing.

I use space to share what I’ve made, what I’m thinking of making, my photography and sometimes, just my thoughts. I’m learning.  I have successes, failures, and everything in between. If you like what you see or have an idea for how I could improve what I make, feel free to comment!
